Probably
the busiest bee of Mt.Gigantic,
Erin Tobey was also in Abe Froman, does the 'zine Here
It Is, creates comics, drawings - she'll design a webpage for you
if you would like. You can visit her little corner of the world here
to see all the stuff she is up to.
And
she has put the noise away on a shelf and is writing quieter stuff for
now, and this album is a collection of those songs. Songs about science
and love is how she describes them. They are sometimes sad, sometimes
a bit dark, like "Nebula Song." "Inauguration Day"
will probably make you cry.
Some
of the songs are about the difficulty in opening yourself up to someone
and finding love. The lyrics more than anything make me think of someone
who is new to adulthood and feeling a little lost. Especially when there
is also the song "Wolf Alice" which is based on the story
Wolf Alice by Angela Carter about
a child growing up and going through the stages of becoming an adult
which makes it seem even more so. There is also an interesting movie
called The Company of Wolves which is like the Donnie Darko
of growing up or something. It's based on that story and another of
Carter's stories also called Company of Wolves.
If
you are looking for some music that is quiet and perfect for a Fall
or Winter day while you are stuck inside, away from the cold, you should
like this.
