Dust From 1000 Years
Fever Dreams
SHYB : 2006
What do you get when you mix five dollars[1], a crafty geocities website[2] & an eighth of a bag of gnarly mushrooms with hundreds of year old dust? A mothersnappin' masterpiece. Make that masterpiece number 2! This album - Fever Dreams - coming after the evil ways that was their 2005 self-titled outing is another pleasurable stroll through enchanted forests filled with animals that only spit venomous honeysuckle.
Imagine being awaken from a slim sleep inside your ancient Oak as outside your knob hole there is a small gathering of furry chaps from Bloomington, Indiana. One fella is tapping on the tree bottom like a man gone completely brilliant as another strums a perfectly pitched guitar. they all - it looks like 4 or 5 of 'em - seem to be singing about something different, though not quite a harmony [what standards do you live by?], yet the sum seems to be funneling into something unique and downright captivating. Even though your sleep pattern has just been fucked all to hell - you wipe your silly moist eyes and do exactly what a being in this situation should: plead for more. Like the [now jobless] huntsman from a tale called Snow White - you belt out a lashing, semiconscious"Run away, dear child" as you join this band of gentlemen on their hike for the next treesleeper... "whistle through the fog".
I really, truly adore Dust From 1000 Years. Never having been - pretty sure I never will be - an "I told yr sorry-ass so" kinda people, but when these guys finally get their fair share - I will indeed be a much happier guy right along side 'em. Some type'a domination couldn't be far off now - I can hear it.
